Exploring data behind the .cz domain ecosystem

Statistics

Research dashboard built on CZ.NIC public datasets. The goal is not “pretty charts”, but measurable structure: concentration, temporal dynamics, and registrar-to-registrar migration signals.

Dataset snapshot: 2025-12-14 Window: 30 days Scope: .cz Method: anchored to dataset time

What you are looking at

daily_stats provides daily domain counts per registrar. We derive distribution metrics (CR1/CR5, HHI), time-series dynamics, and a simplified “Top-N + Others” model for readability. domain_transfers provides daily registrar-to-registrar movements (a migration signal).

Total .cz domains (latest)
1 517 795
Aggregated across 49 registrars.
Concentration (latest)
CR5 75,66%
CR1 22,41% · HHI 1 369,2 (0–10 000 scale)
Interpretation note
Structure
Concentration metrics quantify market structure; they do not imply quality or intent.

Registrar distribution (latest snapshot)

Bar chart shows Top 15 registrars by domains plus an aggregated “Others” bucket.

Total .cz domains over time (30 days)

Single-series aggregation across all registrars (daily totals).

Market share dynamics (Top 8 + Others)

Stacked area chart in percent share, not absolute counts. This makes structural shifts easier to see.

Transfer activity (30 days)

Daily total number of registrar-to-registrar moves (sum over all pairs).

Methodology & limitations

All time windows are anchored to the latest available dataset date (not server time). Some registrars may appear/disappear in the dataset due to operational changes and reporting. Transfer data is a useful migration signal but not a full causal explanation of market movement.
